Empty Classroom Day
24 Июн 2016, Автор: Мария ДимерецHappy campers of our summer language school took part in the international Empty Classroom Day.
Empty Classroom Day is a UK campaign to celebrate and inspire learning and play outside the classroom. The campaign aims to get as many children as possible outside for at least one lesson in the school day. Spending time playing and learning outdoors is essential for a happy childhood and helps children learn important skills for the future. The event took place on the 17th of June. But we were lucky to have two days outside. The day before our campers visited the Zoo in Nikolaev and had fun watching the animals, learning about their habitat and taking lots of photos!
Then came the day! A group of campers set on the tour around the central part of our town. We visited three monuments to people whose names were tightly
connected with the history of Kherson of the XVIII century - Alexander Suvorov, Fyodor Ushakov and John Howard. It should be noted that we followed the route set by the QR codes on the pavement getting information from this codes. You just scan the code with your mobile and get information about this historic place! It was really exciting and educational at the same time.
By signing up to Empty Classroom Day we also entered a photo competition. The photographs that really captured the true spirit of Empty Classroom Day – showing how much fun we were having enjoying the benefits of learning and playing in the great outdoors – have chance to win a fantastic signed framed original photograph by English naturalist, nature photographer and wildlife presenter Chis Packham.
We are looking forward to new challenges and the forthcoming Outdoor Classroom Day that is due on the 6th of October.
